Eduardo Paolozzi is often considered the ‘Grandfather’ of Pop Art. his prints from the late ’60s and ’70s are typical of the eye-catching, punchy and colourful style and everyday subject matter  associated with Pop Art. The ‘Z.E.E.P‘ (‘Zero Experimental Pile’) series of six screenprints draw you in immediately with their bold colours, magazine images, diagrams and comic strip patchwork of elements. The printing process – screenprint and lithograh  on astrolux laminated to acrylic – is unusual. It relates to Pop art’s connection with commercial printmaking and plays with the idea of mechanical printing, moving away from what was considered ‘traditional’ fine art. Paolozzi’s innovative and unorthodox attitude towards printmaking techniques made him a figure of major importance in this area.
