View the e-catalogue here. Including an introduction by Sarah Lea, Curator at the Royal Academy of Arts, London.
Eileen Cooper has had an illustrious career and is well known for her strong, bold and passionate figuration as a painter and printmaker. She was the first woman to have been elected as Keeper of the Royal Academy of the Arts, London (2010-2017) and to have held this post since the Academy’s foundation in 1768.
We are thrilled to be exhibiting a new body of collage works, that draw on Eileen’s interest on the female form in motion. These have been particularly inspired by Akram Khan’s contemporary choreography from the iconic ballet, Giselle. In these beautiful collages, Eileen has placed her strong female protagonist at the centre of each scene and re-contextualised her within abstract landscapes to create her own unique Short Stories.
